  • Does my skater need a coach?

    • The Hutchinson Parks and Recreation (PRCE) skating program is focused on introducing new skaters to the sport of figure skating and is setup for instructor-lead group lessons to learn the fundamental skills in Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta skating levels.
    • Once a skater completes the PRCE program and joins HFSA as a free style 1 skater, HFSA continues to provide weekly group lessons for free style 1, 2, and 3 levels.
    • Once a skater has progressed into free style level 3, it’s time to identify a coach that you can work with going forward into free style level 4.   Many skaters already begin working with a coach earlier - it’s your choice.   Free style level 4 and above leverage focused 1 on 1 skating lessons from your coach.

  • How often should I train with my coach?

    Most skaters train with their coach at least once a week and many do twice a week.  

    Skaters should register for practice ice time (reference the calendar and registration information) and contact the coach of your choice who will subsequently do a 15 minute coaching session during your practice ice time.

  • What are the costs of private coaching?

    Coaching rates will vary by coach but you can expect ~$10 fee for each 15 minute coaching session. 

    The coach will bill the skater directly.

Coaching specialty: I love to coach because it allows me to work one on one with the skater to help them best understand the skills and techniques to grow as a skater. I really enjoy the Teams/Synchro routines and love working with the girls on the Teamwork aspect. Being a coach is being a mentor; I love to help! 
Coaching experience: I have been coaching Figure Skating for 13 years and currently a Gold certified ISI coach working on becoming certified in Synchro.
I am also able to assist in any music editing needs.

Private lesson rate: $10.00/15 min.
Coaching specialty: I love to work with the kids and help them grow as a skater. I really enjoy the technical side of figure skating and seeing the kids build upon the skill they have mastered. While it is very easy to get competitive in the sport I like to remind the skaters that they are here to have fun and enjoy what they are doing.
Coaching experience: I have been coaching figure skating for 10+ years now and taking skaters to competition for 4+ years. I am a Gold certified ISI coach. I have been involved in figure skating since I was 3 years old.

Private lesson rate: $10.00/15 min.
Coaching specialty: I really enjoy coaching as it allows me to work one-on-one with the skater, technically and artistically.    
I love being able to assist them with mastering their elements, and teaching them how those elements build off of one another as 
they progress through the levels. The most rewarding part of being a coach/mentor is watching each skater grow into their own personality!
Coaching Experience: I am an ISI Silver Certified coach. I’ve been coaching for Hutchinson PRCE Skate School and HFSA for 8 years and have been taking skaters to competition for 5+ years. I began skating when I was 7 years old.
