Skaters who are ready to be tested will be signed up for a test session by his/her coach.
Skaters in levels FS1 & above will be tested on the assigned night, dates and times to be determined.
Skaters will be allowed to warm up at the start of the test session. Each skater will be on the ice individually during his/her test period. There will be a $35.00 fee per skater for the ice time and cost of the test session. If the skater passes, he/she will receive an ISI badge for the level passed.
Each Test Session consists of 2 parts for the skater: Compulsory & Program
In the event of passing only the compulsory portion of the test, you have
one year to complete the program portion of the test before the compulsory portion expires. At which time you would then need to retest both the compulsory and program portions of the test.
Definitions of Program Criteria
Posture Points should be awarded for elegance of style incorporating upright carriage with graceful head and arm movements and extended free leg positions.
The program must contain all required elements of the test taken and may incorporate any extra maneuver of a lower test and any uncaptured moves.
Technical accuracy of the maneuvers performed.
Plan and sequence of the maneuvers performed. Examples of pattern are: circles (clockwise and couter-clockwise), eights (clockwise and counter -clockwise), straight lines, diagonals, spirals, and serpentines. Depending on the length of the program, incorporate as many of these patterns as possible. Balancing the performed maneuvers at different parts of the rink and using the entire space available is part of the program planning. The longer the duration of the Freestyle test program, the more varienty it must offer in pattern design. A low Freestyle test program which utilizes the entire space available certainly deserves a higher grade than a high Freestyle test program which utilizes the same space available.
Rhythm Coordination between movement and music; smoothness of transition from one maneuver to another.
As specified for the particular test being taken. Freestyle tests 1-10 permit a leeway of 10 seconds over the prescribed time. If the skater skates 11-14 seconds over the prescribed time, s/he will be given the grade of 8; if the skater skates 15 seconds or beyond, s/he will be given the grade of 5. Judging stops at 10 seconds over the prescribed time. There is no penalty for skating under the prescribed time. Timing for the program portion of the test begins with any action after the music starts.
Interpretation Projection by expression of change of pace and mood of music.
Style and creativity.
